Saint Stephen’s Day – 20th August

Saint Stephen’s Day has been celebrated for hundreds of years on the 20th August. It is famous for the monumental firework display over the Danube and for the shows and concerts near the river. Visitors can also buy during this week handicrafts and genuine Hungarian artwork from artists in the Royal Palace district.
Summer on the Chain Bridge

The summer on the Chain Bridge is a special event in Hungary; organized every year, in 2007 it will run from the 23rd of June until the 12th of August. At weekends during this period, the beautiful, panoramic and usually crowded Chain Bridge will be closed to motorists – obut open to pedestrians. At the two ends of the bridge the visitors can refresh themselves with various drinks from cafés and they can also try the dishes of several nations - especially Hungarian cuisine. On the bridge, several musicians and artists will entertain the guests, and they can enjoy every weekend different special performances, like fire jugglers and acrobats. The visitors can also buy the special handmade products of Hungarian craftsmen and folk artists, and listen to amazing concerts.
Sziget Festival

The Sziget Festival is the largest music festival in Central Europe. It has been organized annually since 1993, in the second week of August, on Hajógyári Island, which is a large island on the Danube. Visitors can listen to all kinds of electronic, pop, rock, jazz, ethno, hip-hop, reggae and many other types of music. Everyone can find his/her favorite music style on one of the many stages.
